MANNA: Argentinian churches caring for children

Better prospects for children without hope Since 2007, MASA has supported families in Argentinian churches, who take in children from the poorest of backgrounds in the daytime, feed them, help them with school work and offer them love and security. This support helps the churches tackle the needs in their own neighbourhoods.

In churches located in several regions, no fewer than 25 families already care for a total of some 60 children. It gives pleasure to see that the children’s families also profit from this help. Love sends out its ripples. We hope for this ministry of charity may spread over all of Argentina.

Here is one example: The Fernandez Couple in Mendoza, who have organized food distribution to poor children, have taken in four “MANNA Children” during the day. These come from a miserable background, living in a corrugated iron shack among mountains of rubbish. And that is where they return in the evening.

The MANNA Project is monitored by social workers Miriam Pizzi and Sonia Kreischer as well as by Ursula Kampe, our missionary. They do very devoted, blessed work.
In October, all the staff workers had a meeting to discuss what changes might be needed in the concept. One such change is that several families will care for one specific child in future because some „foster mothers“ have to go to work.

MANNA functions best when families are not the only ones in charge but have people in the church coming to help: to play, to buy food and to do bible studies. Many church workers are committed to supporting the MANNA families and to contribute their share. The financial challenges are growing – more funds are needed as the Project is growing. Thank you very much for every prayer and for any financial support!
